Ben Spies says he does expect any Yamaha team orders as the MotoGP championship heads towards a showdown between his teammate Jorge Lorenzo and Honda rival Casey Stoner.
Honda have long held the view that there should be no team orders and Spies says that's the way it should be for all teams, including Yamaha.
Spies has qualified third on the front row for tomorrow's Aragon Grand Prix, the 14th of 18 championship rounds. He is one spot ahead of Lorenzo who is fourth on the grid with Stoner in stunning form to claim pole position for Honda.
Stoner leads Lorenzo by a comfortable 35 points with five races remaining including Sunday's 23-lap encounter in Spain.
Only Lorenzo has an outside chance of beating Stoner, who has won seven races to three over the Spaniard, to the title.
"For me there’s been no team orders," said Spies in confirming the topic of team orders has not been raised by management.
"We saw that at Indy when I passed Jorge. In Misano, Dani (Pedrosa) was able to pass Casey at the end and that’s racing and the way it should be. When a championship is won because somebody let somebody else beat them then I don’t like it so much.
"But I haven’t heard anything and I don’t plan on riding any differently. Whoever is in front of me -- whether on a Honda, Ducati or Yamaha -- I’ll be trying to pass them."
Spies staged a breathtaking come-from-behind performance at last month's Indy GP to finish third after overtaking Lorenzo who ended in fourth.
