I would contribute, I priced the website features that were offered to each of us as an individual through GoDaddy would be $40 per month.

With the site volume, bandwidth requirements and storage..I have no idea what the cost would be and ultimately I would think hosting selection should be left to the owner, Jason. I was just suggesting that as a group we could help offset the cost by providing a monetary gift.

I had planned to donate back the cost of my item, but now I wouldn't even consider it unless they work for my trust.

Nice Poll and yes as a one time gift, I would even scrounge more..great poll and a great feeler. My only condition on this and its nothing personal to Jason if he chose to do this would be a reciept posted or emailed ot all contributors with a running tally of the funds. This while a pain would ensure that there could be no question as to where the money went, there may be another way to do this as well.
Great idea.

Jeremy

Excelent suggestion, if Jason would consider this I would be willing to set up a standalone paypal account. That would be the easist way to track contributors and provide accounting. That way the funds could be sent directly to the hosting site for Jason. Of course Jason would still own the obligation in the event the funds were exausted. But I am getting ahead of my self, Jason has not weighed in on the topic.

Great idea, and generous of you....I think he might take a liking to it if things go right.

Jason had stated that the total cost was right at 1K a month, 500 for the site and 500 for the standalone server it was running on.

$20 a year on the cheap side up to $50 a year might turn alot of folks away... Next big ??? Do you charge fans? That would go over like a Fart in Church...

Yep, your disgust was duely noted in the last thread, let's just keep it in that one.......negativety doesn't need to spread through this site like a virus....we've had enough to last a lifetime!

No this was just an idea that came up...its all hypothetical really but I liek the idea that we as racers may be able to help get things in order. If this comes back its goign to be a hard road to get it back to wher eit was when things went south......

The idea I had was NOT to charge anyone racers or fans for access, it was only asking if anyone would be willing to give a monetary gift to simply pay for the hosting of the site to aid in getting things back up if Jason gets contol. What I am proposing is for getting the web site operational not to provide funding to the program. Once the site was back and/or the donated funds exausted the cost of the hosting would fall back to Jason.

Again Jason has not given any input on this, so I don't know if he would be open to this or not.

In the questions thread he did make a comment..if things go the way we want.....then he would be open to donations...I think that to get the site back to form and credible it will take everything "we" can do to help....I almost think that it would be a great time to restart it under Jason alone under a new name and by the time the SR officially gets sorted out we could have it up and running, just a thought. Was thinking we could call it Racers United???????
