Well all those that were following our blog knows that I was trying to breath life back into a engine that had not been run in over a year. This engine was for me to race so this year my son and I both would be on the track. I got all the engine machine work done and ran into some problems there and solved those, then after bolting it up on the kart and getting it all set to crank, the carb was not pumping fuel. So after several hours of working on that I got the engine to crank but the big (really big) tillotson carb was puke'n fuel out the air filter. So I had to go from the 34 mm HR191 to the 33mm HR181 but this morning we started it up and it sounds great! After running it just last night and some this morning it has already started to seat the rings well and build some really good compression. This is a 135cc 2cycle karting engine that we run in an outlaw class this thing has had extensive port work done and is way over bore so finding a new piston was really dificult it is at 55.8 mm bore.
For all the kart racers, imagine my kart with me in it roll across the scales at 380lbs that is stock heavy weight with an engine that produces 5 times the HP. If you get a chance to see a UAS race go, at speeds normaly at twice the stock classes it is exciting

Glad to hear you got her running again, but I bet our power to weight ratios are pretty close 1400lbs with 850HP here. LOL |

your exactly right sprints are very near the same only our butt is only 1" off the ground and no roll cage. This is my son on his kart from last year this is now my kart for this year. He got a new one for this year.

when my son was racing purple plate and he was getting bored with it, I asked the track promoter if we could come back on a Sunday afternoon and play. I put a stock flat head with no restrictor on my son's purple plate kart and didn't add any weight so he was at 275 lbs needles to say it was fast he and the other kid proved that they where more than capable of driving them so we let them play, then later we put a limited flat head on there at the same 275 and let him race against myself on a 2cycle and some other friends that would all treat him right. He finished 3rd and was racing for second. We never looked back at restricted classes. I still have a national level purple/blue plate motor that is forsale. |
